Trump Wants to Recognize Syria’s Occupied Golan as Israel. Pompeo: Trump Sent by God to Save Israel From Iran

Everybody knows when Lord decides to get stuff done he does so through US Presidents

So let’s see. Apparently God doesn’t like Iran much, or at least Iran’s plans for Israel and may have sent Donald J. Trump to stop it.

That is what the US Secretary of State actually believes.

Incidentally the US Secretary of State likewise doesn’t like Iran much, and last September tried to get Trump to cruise missile Iran.

What a fortunante thing that God’s own thinking reflects that of Mike Pompeo:

“Could it be that President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from the Iranian menace?” Mitchell asked Pompeo.

“As a Christian, I certainly believe that’s possible,” Pompeo, who was visiting Israel, replied.

“I am confident that the Lord is at work here,” Pompeo concluded.

The Lord is at work here through the US government and Donald Trump, people!

The Lord works in mysterious ways

Trump meanwhile was tweeting that he has half a mind to say the Golan Heights, which Israel took in a 1967 invasion of Syria, is now Israel as far as the US is concerned:

Did it just in time to provide a boost for Netanyahu ahead of parliamentary elections in two-weeks time, as well.

The Wall Street Journal showered praise on Trump saying this would be a great “message to Russia”:

Recognizing the Golan sends a message to Russia, Syria’s patron, that the U.S. recognizes that the civil war has changed Syrian reality. There is no returning to a nonexistent status quo ante. It also tells the Palestinians that a return to pre-1967 borders is no longer realistic. They will have to allow some Israeli security presence in what they call the “occupied territories” if they want a two-state solution in Palestine.

Other commentators have pointed out the message Russia would actually get might be a little bit different from what The Walls Street Journal thinks:

In a controversial snub to international law, the United States signaled last week that it is moving to officially recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israeli territory. If the US does so, then it forfeits any moral authority to sanction Russia over allegations of “annexing Crimea”.
