Ceremony Marks Official End of Polish Occupation of Afghanistan

Communist Poland was never asked to contribute to occupation of Afghanistan, "free" Poland jumped at the chance to do it voluntarily

President Andrzej Duda said at the ceremony that the mission in Afghanistan was one of the most difficult in the history of the Polish army during peacetime.

“A mission in which 44 Polish soldiers and army employees were killed, and almost a thousand were wounded and injured,” Duda added.

Polish soldiers spent almost 20 years in Afghanistan, with over 33,000 troops and defence ministry employees taking part in the mission.

US President Joe Biden and NATO – of which Poland is a part – said in mid-April they would pull out the roughly 10,000 foreign troops still in Afghanistan by September 11, the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York that prompted the international mission.

All foreign soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan have died for nothing. Our generals have continued these needless wars for personal glory, promotions, and kickbacks from military contractors. Jail our criminally incompetent generals.
