yes it has happened before. the 1918 to 1920 pandemic flu caused the entire county to shut down after while and it the rest of the world evidently. even all shipping and mail was stopped. crops did not get planted or harvested. and many people even died from the famine that resulted. and it even took a long time after the virus ran its course over the 3 years it still took a long time for the US and the Worlds economy’s to get going again.
