Zelensky Tells Russian Speakers Who Feel Themselves Russian to Leave Donbass

"...if you love Russia...you need to go and to look for a place in Russia."

Editor’s note: They’ll do just that and take their land with them.

To resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, it is important that the inhabitants of its occupied part identify themselves and answer the questions “Who are you?” and “Are you with Russia or with Ukraine?” believes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The statement came as the president was speaking in an exclusive interview with Dom TV, Ukrinform reports.

“There is a saying: ‘Someone is doing a leg split.’ They don’t know what to do, take time to make a choice, and just can’t make it, not realizing who they are. The most important thing in this story is to understand for yourself: you are Russian? Are you in Russia? I’m not talking about nationality, but about people’s internal choices. Are you Ukrainian? Is this your land? Is this your Homeland or are you a guest here?” said the president.

He has stressed that Donbas will never be Russian territory.

“It just won’t happen, ever. No matter how long it is occupied, you know? It’s like a wall that Germany had. In any case, people and history will seize the moment – and this wall will fall. If someone can’t reach an agreement, people will still seize the moment,” Zelensky emphasized.

In this regard, it is important for the inhabitants of the occupied territory to identify themselves today.

I believe that if you live in the temporarily occupied territory of Donbas today and you think that “our way is right,” “we are heading to Russia,” “we are Russians,” then it would be a big mistake to stay in Donbas… Because without Ukraine, there will be no civilization in this territory. Ukraine will keep developing, building things. And a part of Donbas in its occupied, cut-off form won’t be developing at all. So people will never be happy there,” the head of state added.

At the same time, the president stressed that “no one will be deporting anyone,” noting that this should be an independent decision made by people. [Aka, they ought to self-deport as it becomes clear later on.]

“Therefore, I believe, for the future of your children and grandchildren – if you love Russia and have been in Ukraine all your life while feeling that it’s Russia, you must understand that in the name of your children and grandchildren you need to go and to look for a place in Russia. That would be the right thing to do,” Zelensky said.

“But if you feel that you are Ukrainian and that Donbas is part of Ukraine, if you respect this flag, respect the Ukrainian language (even if you didn’t master it in school, go read some books and everything will come, you may speak as you want), but if you feel that you’re Ukrainian, stay there. Stay there and hold on, this land will be de-occupied in any case. This is history. So we don’t say “normal” or “not normal.” We say: ‘Who are you? Give an answer to your own self,’” the president concluded.

As reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky supports the idea of expanding the Normandy Four platform or creating another platform toward Donbas settlement with the participation of major world powers. However, in his opinion, the number of formats does not affect their quality as it’s Russia that must end the war.

“…if you love Russia…you need to go and to look for a place in Russia.”
Or what, Zik-Zik? What will you do that you haven’t already tried in Crimea? Crash the electrical grid? Check. Failed. Shut off their water? Check. Failed. Appeal to their patriotism? Well, that’s what you’re trying now, isn’t it? I don’t want to get cocky, but I see that failing, too.

Ukraine will go on developing, and Donbass will be left behind? Is everything outside your windows a big oil painting, or what? Have you looked outside? Tell you what, let me lay it out for you, in the words of the people who work for you.

“For the successful implementation of reforms, Ukrainian infrastructure requires an additional $20-25 billion of investment by 2030, with $8-10 billion of private investment annually over the next 10 years. On its own Ukraine is only able to finance about $1.5 billion of infrastructure projects annually.”

Gosh, I’m not very good at math – let me get out my duct-taped 1978 Texas Instruments calculator. Mmmm….carry the 2…Mr. TI says that’s an annual shortfall of at least $6.5 Billion in private investment, which is the nose that is first to smell failure. And about that minimum-$20 Billion investment package – have you had a serious look at the amounts currently being doled out by the IMF for Ukrainian improvements? I think the amounts typically start with ‘M’ instead of ‘B’.

And I hate to bring it up, but that annual $1.5 Billion you say you can raise for infrastructure improvements is not far short of the $2.7 Billion or so you used to realize from transit fees, for use of the Ukrainian GTS to carry Russian gas to Europe. The money you, you know, won’t be getting any more after 2024.

Unless you can somehow convince the Russian government to operate at a loss out of pity, and send a couple of billion worth of gas every year through your whistling-teakettle pipes because you’re such good friends.

In which case I recommend you modify your present conversation.

I wonder if Z would like to pay the 500,000 pensioners –that Ukraine refused to pay for the past 6 years, their money – before leaving ? It’s only 3,6 billion dollars – converted ! Liars and thieves are what make up the government of Ukraine.

GMC, you just hit the proverbial nail right on its head, and I fully agree. I, too, wonder if Z would like to pay the 500,000 pensioners – that Ukraine refused to pay for the past 6 years, their money – before leaving? Heck, it’s only 3.6 billion dollars – converted. In case you haven’t heard, Z, liars and thieves are what make up the government of Ukraine, BTW.

What a jackass statement. They feel Russian because you and your criminal bosses are treating Russian speakers like dirt. If you treated them like the normal and decent people that they are, maybe they might start to feel Ukrainian. I thought we only elected idiots like this in the USA.

Maybe, they remember what their parents told them, about the 30’s Holodomor enforced by, Yiddish speaking Komissars & now they see those Komissars in Ukraine are speaking Hebrew ??

Irrelevant. If they feel like fishes or dinosaurs, it’s not the gov’t business.

If that is the basis of his argument, then the same must apply to Zelensky and the rest of his Jewish Oligarch cronies, they should pack up their bags and move to Israel.

People, this happens when state is seen as sovereign over people, in particular over their bodies and property. No matter if an inhabitant of Donbass “fells” ukie or russian, he has a right (even recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) to choose where to reside and also (recognized too by aforementioned declaration) to keep his property. The state is a servant, not your owner!! down with the aristocrats!!!
