We’re Not Winning Against the Virus Derangement Cult. But We Sure as Hell Ain’t Losing
N-o-b-o-d-y is defecting to their side. Plenty are defecting to ours.
Compared to February 2020 we are far less free and some of the freedoms that we have lost we will likely not recover in our lifetimes. On the other hand, compared to March 2020 things have never looked better. We have not defeated the cult, but the anti-cult movement has never been bigger.
I don’t know of a single person who was anti-lockdown in March 2020 but later concluded that was a mistake and is now pro-cult. On the other hand, there are countless people who were lockdown boosters in March 2020 who have since gone completely silent. And others who initially went along with the Maoist madness tacitly, who are now openly against it, in word, and especially in deed.
We are growing stronger. Growing stronger does not equal winning, but it is also very distinct from losing.
Recall the situation in March and April 2020. There were very few demonstrations against the lockdown insanity and only in the (midwestern) United States. Even these were shy affairs with only a few hundred libertarians and gun-rights types in attendance. There was absolutely no anti-lockdown voice in the corporate media (of the type Tucker Carlson became later), and even in the alternative media one half of it was boosting hysteria and shilling for lockdowns, and much of the rest kept “wisely silent”.
It is still incredible to me just how sweeping the hysteria and conformism were in those early days. Just how small was the remnant that had kept its wits. How few were the voices speaking against it.
To say it was a tiny movement back then would not capture it. For one to be an anti-lockdowner in March of 2020 was downright l-o-n-e-l-y.
Since then early ideological lockdown shills, like Moon of Alabama, have largely shut up about COVID altogether and barely ever write about COVID issues one way or the other. And early click-bait alarm raisers, like Zero Hedge, have flipped the script entirely, no longer raising alarm about a deadly new plague, but about tyrannical governments instead.
Additionally, many voices who were initially silent for a very long time have since started to criticize the cult, often quite radically so. Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Max Blumental, Michael Tracey come to mind. Even Caitlin Johnstone, a long a self-professed agnostic on all things COVID, penned something the other day that crosses over into a fairly strong attack on the Australian zero-COVID state.
They were not with us in the trenches when the situation was the grimmest and skies darkest, but the struggle for freedom is far from over, and it is good to have their talents and influence on the side of reason, humility, and dignity from now on.
At the same time, special recognition and appreciation has to go to people who were able to recognize the insanity from the start. That means you, the readers of Anti-Empire.
The site was definitely not focused on domestic affairs in North America and Europe but the insanity, the totalitarianism and the lethality of the virus doomsday cult was just too great not to speak out against it and try fighting it tooth-and-nail from day one. As I put it at the time, the occupation had come home.
This cost the site some regular readers whom the anti-megalomania coverage rubbed the wrong way, but if you’re reading this you weren’t among them.
March 2020 was a once-in-a-lifetime test, and we who didn’t fall for either the hysteria or the conformity and deference, we are the ones who passed.

ZH admitted they banned some at the behest of google,,, MA commenters were mostly leftists and like farcebook/twatter got many banned. Must be boring as hell on these sites now that everyone is of the same opinion.
Anti Empire has been patient regardless of stance on hot subjects and is now the only site I recomend and contribute to.
