US, Russia Trade Blame for Syria Mad Max Olympics After Collision, Concussions to US Troops

US vehicles blocking the road moved to also interfere with the Russian attempt to go around them

Pentagon laying the blame on the Russians:

As is the White House:

The White House National Security Council said in a statement that a Russian vehicle struck a US mine-resistant ATV, “causing injuries to the vehicle’s crew.”

National Security Council spokesman John Ullyot said the US vehicles were a security patrol of the anti-Daesh coalition.

He said the patrol departed the area to de-escalate the situation.

“Unsafe and unprofessional actions like this represent a breach of de-confliction protocols, committed to by the United States and Russia in December 2019,” said Ullyot.

“The coalition and the United States do not seek escalation with any national military forces, but US forces always retain the inherent right and obligation to defend themselves from hostile acts.”

However even Radio Free Europe has to admit that the Russians moved off the road when they encountered the US roadblock, but then the Americans mirrored their move and tried interfering also with the Russian attempt to go around them:

The Russian Defense Ministry claims a Russian patrol in Syria acted in self-defense when a vehicle in a military convoy rammed a coalition vehicle carrying U.S. soldiers.

Four U.S. soldiers reportedly suffered “mild concussion-like symptoms” as a result of the incident, which took place on the morning of August 26 in northeastern Syria.

Video of the encounter shows multiple Russian military vehicles traveling across an open field when they encounter U.S. military vehicles blocking a nearby road.

The collision appears to occur after U.S. vehicles enter the field in an attempt to prevent the Russian convoy from advancing.

U.S. General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussed the incident by telephone with his Russian counterpart, General Valery Gerasimov.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, coalition forces in Syria had been notified about the Russian convoy’s planned route, and the Russian military took “necessary steps” to end the incident and “further implement the assigned task.”

On the other hand, the Russians this time clearly came prepared, in numbers, and with a plan not to back down. Maybe they’ve had their fill?

The background to the US-Russian “road wars” since October 2019 is that the Russians have moved into northern Syria to guarantee the border against further Turkish encroachment into Kurdish-held Syria.

The US which according to Trump was at the time leaving Syria supported this, but after Trump’s U-turn that he would nonetheless stay in Syria to “take the oil”, the Americans started dictating how far the Russians can go, and which roads they can use.

Specifically, the Americans have insisted the Russians not take the M4 highway to their base in Qamishli, but instead, use an inferior and more roundabout path hugging the border.

Blue is the obvious path, but the Americans insist the Russians must depart the M4 highway after Tall Tamr and hug the border along the red path

It sounds like a communication failure, where the people who received the Russian plans neglected to pass them onto CENTCOM in a timely, or any, manner.
Of course, if America were to simply pull out of a place where we have no legitimate interests, the Russians could do the same, ending the mess.

How the hell can it be a “communication failure ” ? The U.S. has satelites spying on Syria 24/7, they also have Drones flying all over the place over there, they KNOW exactly what’s going down at any time of the day, and NOTHING happens that they are unaware of, or without their approval and support. B.T.W. You do know, that they ILLEGALLY in a foreign country waging ILLEGAL war on the population there, right ????????? The Russians, UNLIKE the Americans, were INVITED by the Syrian Government of the day, thus are there LEGALLY. That is of course, if our World today is even run on a legal basis, which from where I sit, does not seem to be the case.

It isn’t what is going on but what was granted prior approval under the rules of engagement. Since there have been no lawful American military incursions since WW2, all of the personnel are committing ignorant treason, but that is a lot like the rampant jingoism that a declining number can distinguish from patriotism.
Do you know the difference between legal and lawful? If not, TM2000-25 can teach it to you. TM2000-25 is readily available online at https://www.1215.org/lawnotes/misc/citizenship-tm2000-25.pdf

I think you will find, those “retards in the Pentagon” couldn’t give a rats arse about life or this planet. Wars are their bread and butter, providing wealth and employment, nothing else matters to them. A POX on them all.

I’d be interested in learning the reason(s) why the US is in Syria to begin with!
We know the Russians were asked by Assad to go into Syria to assist in their protection from the US..
The one obvious answer could be ‘Syria’s oil’, but that hardly makes sense…why would the US want to destroy a country that has no power to even begin to hurt the US….for a small amount of oil?
The oil industry is on its way out so that doesn’t make sense….but doing it for Israel does!
That way, the US can be blamed and not Israel, which Iran and Syria could probably destroy in a war.

    1. cechas vodobenikov says

it cannot be oil; the US pends more to maintain private militias, troops and pay ISIS/ SDF in Syria than it could potentially obtain in revenues from oil—Syria produces very little

GREATER ISRAEL. Syria as well as Iran are the only nations in the M.E. that can sort out the Israelis, should they ever choose to do so. Plus, the Israelis, ever greedy, cannot allow either nation to keep to it’self the natural resources their territory contains. That’s what all the fuss is about in the M.E. any nation that can defend it’self against Israel, MUST be destroyed and brought to it’s knees, no matter how many Americans it takes, or how much U.S. money it takes to bring such an event about.

Let’s see,,,, the US illegally occupying a section of a sovereign nation,,, AND openly stealing its resources,,, is telling Russians that are legally there, the routes they should travel throughout the country.

Yes, I’m sure this is what the US founding generation had in mind for their new nation… to be the most hated nation on the planet. Of course Americans call this ‘respect’.

    1. itchyvet says

How is it, the U.S. can LIE, CHEAT, STEAL, INVADER NATIONS ILLEGALLY, and then still claim they have some sort of right ???? Get the F*** out of Syria, then your pussy troops won’t get hurt. How easy is that to understand ?
