US Complains Russian Su-35 Endangered Its Anti-Sub Plane off the Russian Naval Base in Syria

A "dangerous high-speed pass" put the American plane at risk says the 6th Fleet

A Russian fighter jet made a dangerous high-speed pass that put a U.S. Navy surveillance aircraft at risk during an intercept over the Mediterranean Sea on Tuesday, the U.S. Sixth Fleet said, but Moscow said its pilot had behaved responsibly.

“While the Russian aircraft was operating in international airspace, this interaction was irresponsible,” the Sixth Fleet said in a statement.

“We expect them to behave within international standards set to ensure safety and prevent incidents,” it said.

The U.S. aircraft was operating consistent with international law and did not provoke this Russian activity,” it said.

The Sixth Fleet said the Russian jet had made three intercepts, two of which it deemed to be safe. But it said one of the intercepts of the P-8A Poseidon involved a high-speed pass directly in front of the U.S. aircraft that produced wake turbulence and “put our pilots and crew at risk.”

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had scrambled a Sukhoi Su-35 jet from its air base in Syria to intercept the U.S. plane which it said had been approaching Russia’s Tartus naval facility on the Syrian coast, Russia‘s state-run RIA news agency reported on Wednesday.

The P-8 came to the edge of Syrian airspace off the coast of Tartus

Moscow denied its aircraft had acted irresponsibly, saying it had stayed at a safe distance and had returned to its base after the U.S. aircraft changed course.

What did the US Navy expect when they were so close to the Russian naval base???
The aggressors/whiners are like Jeckyl and Hyde…creepy.
Just learn your lesson, fellas, and stay away from the Russian base….weren’t you supposed to be leaving Syria anyway?? What happened to that plan? Oh, yeh! The oil
you can’t take with you..and Israel told you to stay to help them ‘defend’ themselves after they do pretty much the same thing you were just doing….

Hey look, on just how fast the bravado of the US military disappears and quickly replaced with the notion of foul play when they find themselves against forces who aren’t just defenseless goat herders in Afghanistan.

    1. OzricTentacle says

And even in Afghanistan they get their asses kicked, as is justified!

    The crying is embarrassing ffs.
They are supposed to be military people, they are doing duties set down to them by their superior officers, so why do the senior officers squeal like little pigs when another military carry out their orders?

The Russians have every right to duck about with US pirates threatening Russian airspace.

If one steps into hot water, a burn should be expected

But the U.S. never complained about the Israelis buzzing the U.S.S. Liberty.

    1. Peter Five-Oh says

The Israelis did a lot more than just buzz the USS Liberty. They fired on it and killed scores and wounded even more US sailors. That would have been an act of war by any other nation, but with regard to Israel, it was “What attack? We didn’t no attack.”

      Correct!
That was a clear sign at that time already for whom US Military is working and “fighting”. For zionist-Israhell then and for their AIPAC Government now as well.

IMO nowadays the US navy and its Bosses are so corrupt it will never be solved and the perpertrators will never be punished it seems.

“America is fighting for democracy and freedom”? “The war on terror”?
Proven slogans are rubbish, hot air and distractions for the sheeple.

your complaint has been duly noted, now piss off.

It just never stops, does it?

This has to be the fourth time, at the very least, we’ve heard this complaint made about an American surveillance plane and a Russian interceptor.

One could politely suggest that they just stay back home, but suggesting anything to Americans these days is a waste of breath.

    1. DarkEyes says

      IMO.

Due to not being certain about the adequate Russian defense systems Bolton and Pompeo keep testing Russian reaction time, their means of defendse and reacting.

To gear up tensions, the US-neocon-military are testing Russian defense and reactions in
      – East Mediterranean,
      – the Black Sea and
      – the Baltic Sea,
to gather data in this way for the zio-Israhellis to prepare for more threats, gearing up and keeping tensions against a war situation and last but not least to check how far they can go and hoping “Russia might get in panick” and then they might have what they wished for: a shooting war.
At such point Bolty and Pompy could be satisfied and have wet pants.
This could be their last experience, alive.

Those poor American pilots! Being bullied and scared off. Have they been traumatized? Are they getting help?

    1. Greenstone says

As we speak these poor unfortunate pilots are in a nice safe zone with their favourite teddy having a good cry

    2. Mary E says

AAAWWWWW…poor babies! And their training in places like California were so different from reality… where they could go for a cold one after doing some practice taunting of Russians…geez, maybe they should take a reality pill…

We are lost, which way to Washington DC?

Maybe the Russians in Syria can tell us where to go?

    And where NOT to go!
