Sweden’s Covid Expert Says ‘World Went Mad’ With Lockdowns

“It was as if the world had gone mad, and everything we had discussed was forgotten”

The man behind Sweden’s controversial Covid-19 strategy has characterized lockdowns imposed across much of the globe as a form of “madness” that flies in the face of what is known about handling viral outbreaks.

Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s state epidemiologist, said he advised against such restrictions on movement because of the detrimental side effects they often entail.

“It was as if the world had gone mad, and everything we had discussed was forgotten,” Tegnell said in a podcast with Swedish Radio on Wednesday. “The cases became too many and the political pressure got too strong. And then Sweden stood there rather alone.”

Tegnell admits he misjudged the deadly potential of the coronavirus in its early stages, but has refused to consider abandoning his strategy. He says restricting movement to the radical extent seen across much of the globe can create other problems, including increased domestic abuse, loneliness and mass unemployment.

“In the same way that all drugs have side effects, measures against a pandemic also have negative effects,” he said. “At an authority like ours, which works with a broad spectrum of public health issues, it is natural to take these aspects into account.”

But Sweden now has one of the world’s highest Covid-19 mortality rates, with more deaths per 100,000 than the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins University data. [And far far less than New York.] Polls suggest Swedes have started to lose faith in their country’s response to the pandemic.

Instead of shuttering schools, shops and restaurants, Sweden left pretty much everything open. Citizens were encouraged to observe social distancing guidelines, but the strategy assumed Swedes would voluntarily alter their behavior without the need for laws.

Tegnell also advised against using face masks, arguing there’s little scientific evidence they work. And he says it’s clear that closing down schools was an unnecessary response to the pandemic, a notion that’s actually supported in a recent French study.

Tegnell’s underlying argument is that Covid-19 isn’t going away any time soon, meaning sudden, severe lockdowns will ultimately prove ineffective in addressing the longer-term threat. Meanwhile, the virus has recently resurfaced in a number of places where authorities thought they’d brought it under control, including Beijing.

“I’m looking forward to a more serious evaluation of our work than has been made so far,” Tegnell said. “There is no way of knowing how this ends.”

Sweden’s parliament has agreed to have a commission probe the government’s response to the Covid crisis. The results of the investigation are due to be published in early 2022, before the next general election. Recent polls show that Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, who heads a minority center-left coalition, has seen his voter approval ratings slump amid concerns about the country’s Covid policy.

Well, that’s a graph rather than a picture. And i’m not sure it’s actually worth anything if the tests themselves are fundamentally flawed. And they are flawed, of course. The counting of cases is *extremely* lackadaisical and sloppy, with just about anything being counted as “Covid-19” so long as any one of a vague set of symptoms manifests. In China, they are essentially using CT scans to confirm cases. In other places, general observational diagnoses are used, and in other places it is the PCR. But the PCR itself is a notoriously unreliable tool for determining the presence of a virus. The results depend largely upon the primers used, and the theoretical reconstructions of the virus are just that: reconstructions.
What you have with this entire Covid issue is a disease of testing. That is, the reclassification of existing diseases based merely on the presence of RNA (which can be from many sources). There is NO PAPER anywhere that establishes that the supposedly novel coronavirus Sars-Cov-2 causes any of the endlessly shifting list of symptoms that the authorities adduce.

The numbers are being padded. You can die of a gunshot wound and be listed Covid.

Today, officials at the Washington State Department of Health (DOH)
confirmed that, as the Freedom Foundation reported on Monday, the state
is counting in its COVID-19 death total the deaths of persons who tested
positive for the virus but died from other causes.

In remarks made during a telephonic press briefing,
DOH officials even acknowledged knowingly including multiple deaths
caused by gunshot wounds in the state’s COVID-19 fatality count.

      https://www.freedomfoundation.com/washington/washington-health-officials-gunshot-victims-counted-as-covid-19-deaths/

So any numbers from any chart from WHO, CDC, foreign nations or US State governments cannot be used for real statistical uses. It all a scam. Most PC tests are at best 60pct correct depending on the test you are given. How do you know the test for Covid. What, because the label says so. ROFLMAO. Never in my life have I seen such easy marks.

Sorry mate, but your graph doesn’t show the vast numbers actually killed by the lockdowns themselves – 600 per week in London alone. People suffered heart attacks, strokes, appendicitis, etc at home, but were afraid of going to hospital for fear of catching covid-19, or fear of quarantine. 600 per week in London translates to around 2,000 per week in UK. Similar numbers can be expected throughout Europe and America. These of course are unimportant deaths for the establishment media which you seem to trust; yet they were almost all deaths which could have been avoided, unlike the covid-19 deaths, which were invariably of people who were dying in any case.

      1. Godfree Roberts says

Any idea of similar Chinese numbers? I hear from friends living there that everyone got visited–or at least checked up on–every day by their block/village manager.

Using the movie industry as an example of the transformation of an economy new technology now can recreate dead Actors by the use of computers and impressions of them. Elizabeth Taylor Ingmar Bergman, even Marylin Monroe can come alive again on the movie screen by computer generated images. Today rubber dolls that look like real humans are used as props.

Soon Robots will replace any Actor and dubbing their voice is already done. An entire movie can be produced in a studio simply using computers and the characters will look as real as the living actors. The cost will be pennies on the dollar so the profits remain large.

If this can be done to the movie industry then it can be done to other industries resulting in large numbers who cannot get jobs but are productive as consumers. A UBI check allows an unproductive person to consume using e-commerce sending back a chunk of that money and the government earns by taxing that UBI check and every sale made.

    1. itchyvet says

And not one of these rubber dolls demands a reasonable pay rate.

During the shutdown teleconferencing took off and visiting the Doctor was done via the computer. Suddenly dozens of companies are pushing for work-at-home using covid as the excuse. The entire auto industry is collapsing which works fine for people to buy self driving cars, electric cars or take mass transportation. The media showed how clean our cities are with this shutdown which global warming advocates are now using to promote alternative energy.

The shutdown gutted the oil industry which could work either way but will favor alternative energy for the environmentalists. The entire food industry from farms to restaurants was hit hard. Most will never open and many promoted take out food or methods to deliver food to your home.
The entire University system is hit but Masters degrees and Doctorates to the University Campus lifestyle is no longer needed, Many colleges will close and eduction via internet will increase.

The entire movie industry was hit but Hollywood was dong badly so for it to die supports streaming movies to your home. The entire Gambling industry is dying but again it was already hit before covid. At the same time the very rich were buying up properties and businesses going into foreclosure for a percent of their value.

This shutdown not only is paving the way for a new economy it is transferring trillions from the Middle Class to the top 10% and far more power in their hands over the rest. Already there is talk of a 2nd stimulus check which is the beginning of Universal Basic income. UBI will be needed for the millions who remain unemployable

    1. ke4ram says

It’s one thing for a economy to transform on it’s own and quite another to be forcefully changed by decree. I cannot think of one thing the government has successfully done for the economy and the People other than destroy the economy and make life miserable for the People.

      1. Rowdy-Yates says

True. the major changes economies have gone through have generally been organic. I include the age of discovery, Mercantilism (East India companies) Colonial Empires, Industrial revolution, Post world war economies. This is actually the first controlled change where old economies are systematically taken down and a new one is created, making it unprecedented..

You forgot to add, the Corona Virus is also being used to usher in a money less society using only plastic cards. People fell for it, hook, line and sinker, all thinking it’s a great idea, never giving thought that it will eventually cost them more and restrict their freedoms to do with their money what they wish. Idiots.

      1. Rowdy-Yates says

I did. a moneyless society requires 5-G tech, AI and uninterrupted flow of electricity. It includes constant streaming. Trillions are already being transferred electronically right now and some stores like Whole foods does not accept cash.

        1. itchyvet says

Good update. So far in my country, it is ILLEGAL for businesses to reject the coin of the Realm. No doubt, some time in the near future, we will see legislation to change that. Our Govt has been trying for quiet a few years now, to bring in a cashless society. Thankfully, the majority of people do not support it. Today it’s only the young who fail to see the attack against their freedoms. They think it’s so cool, just because they don’t need to carry cash.

          1. Rowdy-Yates says

One of the ways to fight a cashless society is in courts where the shift of power to a small group destroys the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and very concept of a government run by the people. In a cashless society the poor are left out since they do not have the basic tools to be part of that society. The power of the few is so broad sweeping that they can control everything others do.

Very well said Michael as the Bilderberg shut down the “globalized” economy with a fake pandemic and more money accumulation at the top 1% hands. The post WW2 Bretton-Woods monetary arrangement was a colossal failure and now the “elites” have decided to create global unemployment.

  6. Rowdy-Yates says

The moment I saw the headlines I had to say that the world did not go “mad” over the shutdowns. These shutdowns were deliberate and used to take down the old economies and plug in a new set of economic factors in order to enter the “4th industrial revolution” based on 5-G technology and Artificial intelligence which supports smart cities, robotics, internet of things. greatly expanded E-commerce E-money transfers.

The old economy of shopping centers, sports stadiums, movie theaters, even an economy of downtowns and office work is being phased out. Using a virus to lay off millions who are no longer needed or close down thousands of shops is the only logical explanation since this cannot be done legally. China is at the center of the “4th Industrial revolution and is leaving the world behind. The fact that Tump wants to invest a trillion dollars into 5-G tech and AI belies the reasons for this shutdown.

    1. Great Khan says

More money for the Bilderberg global plunderers and Banksters, while the rest live off pittance.

      1. Godfree Roberts says

Except in China, where everyone owns anything that’s worth owning (land, housing, banks, insurance companies, infrastructure…).

The 4th Industrial Revolution would seem designed for them..

Except this profits to “only” 400 million Chinese people, the remaining ca. 1 billion people, seeing nothing of it, with 400 millions living in abject poverty (but still have their mobile phone to receive daily reminders from the Apparatus).
