Milley Apologized for Trump? He Must Go (Trump Has Lost Control of the Pentagon)

Talk about interfering in domestic affairs

CNN:

“America’s top general is apologizing for appearing in a photo-op with President Donald Trump after the forceful dispersal of protesters outside the White House last week, saying the move was a “mistake.”

Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff also said that he was “outraged” by the killing of George Floyd and added that the protests it sparked spoke to “centuries of injustice toward African Americans.”

“As senior leaders, everything you do will be closely watched. And I am not immune. As many of you saw, the result of the photograph of me at Lafayette Square last week. That sparked a national debate about the role of the military in civil society,” Milley, said in a pre-recorded speech to a group of graduates from the National Defense University released on Thursday.

“I should not have been there. My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics. As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from, and I sincerely hope we all can learn from it,” he added.

Does Millet think that this speech leaked to CNN is not “involvement of the military in domestic politics?”

Well pilgrims, Mark Milley does not know his place. It is not his privilege to denigrate the CinC to anyone in public, much less a group of War College graduates on the occasion of their commencement. These fellows will all hold very responsible positions in government and he has spoken to them in such a way as to encourage insubordination in the chain of command.  He should be retired immediately. He can then go to work for CNN/MSNBC where he can wait for a putative President Joe Biden to appoint him SECDEF or some such thing.

Trump has IMO lost control of the Defense Department. He should take decisive action to regain that control. IMO Esper cannot be fired so close to the election, but he and the other “squirrels” in the five sided mix-master have to be limited in what kind of mischief they can accomplish.

I understand that a retired brigadier general who is a Trump supporter is being placed in OSD as the policy head. Fine. To the extent that the “mutineers” do not cut him out of the loop, he can tell Trump what devilment they are up to, but more is needed.

I suggest that a genuine intellect sit in the WH where he can monitor ALL actions and policies proposed by DoD BEFORE they are issued to the world

IMO Victor Davis Hanson is the man for that job.

I think you need to give Trump a wee bit more time. He acts but he sometimes acts deftly. slowly.

irrelevant optics—the US has long been a military dictatorship, police state, an oligarchy,,,no US president can challenge the corporate ruling class in amerika—unless they wish to be assassinated

General “Vanilly” Milley should just resign already. Such bloviating. If the US Constitution is so important, why isn’t he abiding by it?
