Iraq’s parliament voted in an extraordinary session Sunday to expel all American troops from the country and file a United Nations complaint against the U.S. for violating Iraq’s sovereignty with its assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad.

Ahead of the vote, chants of “No, no, America” rang out inside the hall.

“Iraq called on the U.N. Security Council to condemn the bombing and assassinations,” Iraq’s foreign ministry said in a statement following the vote.

As The National reported, the Iraqi parliament approved “a five-point action plan that would require the Iraqi government to end the presence of foreign troops in the country, and withdraw its request for assistance from the anti-ISIS global coalition.”

“Parliament also called on the government to ban the use of Iraqi airspace by any foreign power,” according to The National.

Earlier:

Speaking before an extraordinary session of parliament Sunday, Iraq’s outgoing Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi recommended that the nation’s lawmakers approve a measure to end U.S. troop presence in “immediately” following the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad.

The prime minister’s remarks came before Iraqi lawmakers are set to vote on a resolution to end permission for American troops to remain in Iraq.

Washington Post reporter Mustafa Salim summarized Mahdi’s recommendations:

FThe U.S. assassination Soleimani on Iraqi soil was met with fierce condemnation from Iraq’s foreign ministry and the prime minister, who called the drone strike a violation of the nation’s sovereignty.

“What happened was a political assassination,” Mahdi said. “Iraq cannot accept this.”

Don’t worry Iraq – just kick them out – they will all end up with jobs back in America – the NWO will make sure these US military yes guys – that trained and operated with ISIS, will get jobs with the POlice Depts. FBI, CIA, FEMA, Homeland Security, and the other Merc agencies around the world. Like the mother of one those My Lai soldiers said – “I sent the US Gov a good boy – they sent me back – a Murderer “. Americans will be paid back – one way or another – for their lack of intelligence.

Now, we’ll have to see whether the decision can be enforced.

We are dealing with a country, the United States, that takes muscular pride in behaviors like stealing Syrian oil or starving Iraqi children.

The American position in Syria is likely not sustainable without the troops in Iraq.

It would be a great tribute to the General if his death did bring down this whole house of cards.

Remember too the US killed a second important commander, the Deputy Commander of the PMU, someone reporting to the Iraqi Prime Minister, as well as, previously, clusters of PMU soldiers, soldiers regarded as part of Iraqi forces.

No matter what, I think it may prove that the US has “bitten off more than it can chew.”

THe General was a regional legend, a gifted, fearless man by various accounts.

A hero for his work against ISIS and his work in the America encouraged Iraq War (1980-88).

Retribution will not be rushed. Iranians are chess players, but it will come.

Just stunning what a blundering clod Trump is.

    Jed Clampett as Commander-in-Chief.

The one other thing he has guaranteed is a filled-to-overflowing campaign war chest, the gift of special interests.

It will be very interesting to watch Putin’s reactions.

There are steps he can take, steps from small to large.

Supplying Iran with S-400 anti-aircraft missiles is a possibility to protect it from aerial bombardment.

He does need Iran in his struggle with the US – as does China – and cannot, I think, just let it go (like Libya in the past). But he is constrained in his choices.

That leaves our bases in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan that surround Iran.

Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan happen to be member nations of Russia’s Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Tehran may request Moscow to put pressure on these member nations to expel American troops and close these bases on the basis that America is using these bases to assassinate Generals and leaders.

That leaves Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pakistan is under several sanctions. Pakistan may request those sanctions be removed and to deal with India’s annexation of Kashmir to the anti Muslim immigration bill or get out.

Iran will definitely become a full fledged nuclear armed nation in order to prevent America from repeating such an impudent act. I wouldn’t be surprised if Iran carries out a nuclear test proclaiming her status as the newest nuclear power.

That means Saudi Arabia will seek nuclear power and Pakistan, whose army plays a major role in Saudi Arabia’s military as well as in other Arab nations, can make that happen or use this as leverage against America.

If this takes place then the ME will become a nuclear armed region forcing Israel to publicly admit her nuclear status. All of this will be on Trump’s head.

      Excellent point !

As for Trump’s threat to bomb 52 sites in Iran which are historically and culturally significant to Iran and the world is an act of pure Barbarism. Such destruction will do nothing to win a war but make America the most racist and barbarous nation on the planet. Merely threatening is bad enough

For Trump to openly declare destroying the monuments of one of Asia’s most significant civilizations brings America to the level of savages. Europe faced this kind of wanton destruction during world war 1 and 2 when so many culturally significant cities with no military value were wiped out by American carpet bombing.

Such a threat in the 21st century by an American President is immoral to the extreme.

No difference between them and ISIS who did the same effort to erase history. Birds of a feather.

      1. Rowdy-Yates says

The difference is that the US military is not some rag tag terrorist group and Trump is defaming the military and the nation by such ugly threats. I have said this before. Trump is the worst President I have the misfortune to know.

        1. Séamus Ó Néill says

The US military is exactly that, a rag-tag terrorist mercenary group whose sole purpose is exporting death and destruction through genocide, gun and drug running and international theft. The rest of the world harbours no illusions about the relationship between the satanically amoral Israel and America. Your President is a common thief, a murderer and war criminal in the same vein as Stalin, Pol Pot or any other criminally insane mass murderer !

    2. AlMart says

Trump is an actor, a distraction and a puppet. The theatrical production is to get you to elect a Communist president, then its all over.

      1. Rowdy-Yates says

So true and to think I voted for him. Oh God!

        1. Feldman says

          me too. smh

          1. Rowdy-Yates says

Wow! you are the first one to admit openly to have voted for Trump. I have not met another commenter who told me this. I so regret wasting my vote on him. Well it takes strength to admit such a mistake

US Iraqi Parliament Votes to Expel US Military

    “4:45 p.m.

Iraq’s parliament has voted to expel the U.S. military from the country.

Lawmakers voted Sunday in favor of a resolution that calls for ending foreign military presence in the country. The resolution’s main aim is to get the U.S. to withdraw some 5,000 U.S. troops present in different parts of Iraq.

The vote comes two days after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani inside Iraq, dramatically increasing regional tensions.

The Iraqi resolution specifically calls for ending an agreement in which Washington sent troops to Iraq more than four years ago to help in the fight against the Islamic State group.

The resolution was backed by most Shiite members of parliament, who hold a majority of seats.

Many Sunni and Kurdish legislators did not show up for the session, apparently because they oppose abolishing the deal.”

the Iraqi Kurds have lost my support since they are corrupted to the bone with US money .. the Sunnis of Iraq never had mine. …..
however, it’s not relevant…. important is that all the shia groups are uniting against the great Satan…

  8. Mary E says

Now we will see if the US does retreat out of Iraq…I am doubting they will – they have no
respect for the countries that they have invaded and now ‘inhabit’…International law,, let alone Iraqi laws and parliamentary rulings… mean nothing to them…No matter, the violent cowards that they are should depart the premises asap….that may be the template by which other countries get rid of the American military `- the world watches and waits.
