Frightened Peruvian Mobs Burn 100s of Bats With Torches, Young Italian Nurse Kills Herself After Testing Positive
The human cost of the hysteria the fear-mongers will have to answer for!
As the coronavirus outbreak continues to grow, misinformation in the form of fake news, rumors, and gossip have continued to feed mass hysteria and panic over the deadly disease.
In Peru, this has resulted in locals attempting to fight CoViD-19 by attacking communities of bats despite the fact that the novel virus still hasn’t been decisively proven to have originated from the winged creature.
On Wednesday, the Peruvian government issued a statement warning residents to stop killing bats after authorities were forced to intervene when roughly half a thousand of the flying mammals came under attack by gangs of peasants hoping to exterminate what they believed were carriers of the disease, reports Peruvian network América Noticias.
Roughly 300 of the creatures were killed in the arson attacks that took place in the small village of Culden, which lies in the Cajamarca region, after mobs attacked the caves where the bat communities dwelled, Peru’s National Service of Wild Forests and Fauna (SERFOR) announced.
About 200 bats were saved from the torch-bearing gangs by members of the wildlife service and National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA) who later released the animals into a distant cave far from Culden.

AFP reports that in a statement, SERFOR said:
“We must not distort the situation due to the pandemic. Bats are not our enemies.”
Continuing, the wildlife agency explained that the bats are actually quite beneficial to humans and are even helping to combat deadly viruses including dengue.
Dengue fever outbreaks in Southeast Asia and the Americas have continued unabated while the world’s attention has been fixed on containing the CoViD-19 pandemic.
SERFOR said:
“70 percent of the [bat] species in the world feed off insects, many of which are harmful to agriculture and our health, like mosquitoes that spread dengue and other diseases”.
The misconception that soup made from bat meat is some popular menu item throughout China—and that bat soup is “responsible” for the coronavirus outbreak originating in the Chinese city of Wuhan—has been thoroughly debunked as misinformation that spread through viral fake news stories and social media posts.

Italy is in mourning after a young nurse working in an intensive care unit dealing with the nightmarish coronavirus pandemic took her own life after she contracted the disease, a nursing federation confirmed.
Daniela Trezzi, 34, had been dealing with intense stress due to her frontline work in the European epicenter of the novel virus. However, when she contracted the disease on March 10, she became preoccupied with the possibility that she had already spread the virus to her colleagues at the San Gerardo Hospital in the city of Monza, which is located in the hard-hit Lombardy region.
An Italian nurse killed herself after testing positive for coronavirus and fearing she had infected others, a nursing federation has revealed.

On Tuesday, the National Federation of Nurses of Italy (Federazione Nazionale Ordini Professioni Infermieritich) announced that Trezzi had taken her own life this past Sunday. Trezzi had reportedly informed a colleague that she was scared and concerned that she had infected somebody with the virus, Pulzo reports.
“We express our pain and consternation over the suicide of our young colleague. Our 450,000 professionals will join together around the relatives and family of Daniela.”
San Gerardo Hospital Director Mario Aparone also expressed his regret over Trezzi’s death, noting that the relevant authorities would investigate the case.
Tragically, the National Federation of Nurses revealed that this wasn’t the first such case of a nurse taking their own life as a similar incident had happened mere days ago in Venice. The federation said:
Una eroina. Sorella di una mia collaboratrice. Spezza e frantuma il cuore. Morta PER il Coronavirus. Riposi in pace https://t.co/6d3PPSOUhy

According to the most recent data from Italian health authorities, the country now has at least 69,176 cases of coronavirus and 6,820 deaths—close to double the amount of fatalities registered in China where the novel virus first emerged last December. However, the Italian Civil Protection Agency, which is charged with collating the data, believes that the infections could be as high as 700,000. Agency chief Angelo Borrelli told La Repubblica newspaper that “a ratio of one certified case out of every 10 is credible.”
The Northern Italian region of Lombardy has borne the brunt of the pandemic, with the death toll rising by roughly 296 in a single day to at least 4,474 on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
Amid the crisis, medics have been saddled with the gut-wrenching responsibility of choosing which patients live or die due to the lack of ventilators and hospital beds. Meanwhile, at least 18 doctors have succumbed to CoViD-19 in Italy alone. [Very questionable what exactly they succumbed to, over 6,000 Italian health workers are known to have been infected, the real figure is likely much higher. Anyone of them who dies, for whatever reason (such as overwork or chronic disease) will be counted as covid death.]

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE DANGER OF STUPID, PANIC STRICKEN PEOPLE !
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE DANGER OF STUPID, PANIC STRICKEN commenters
Italy is lying about the numbers of deaths saying people are dying with the virus but not BECAUSE of the virus. The authorities, like their brethren elsewhere in the world, are causing the panic. They are directly responsible for the death of this nurse and others that will commit suicide once the economic depression sets in.
