Elliot Abrams Says Russia Will “Pay a Price” for Helping Venezuela

Putin has been a very naughty boy

Bolton meanwhile explains only Western Hemisphere nations are allowed to station troops in Venzuela

The US special envoy for Venezuela regime change, Elliot Abrams, has said the US will get back at Russians for flying in to repair Venezuela’s S-300 air defenses:

“We have a very nice options paper of the various things that can be done in U.S.-Russia relations,” Abrams told BBC News.

“There are a lot of things we can do in economic terms, in terms of sanctions. There is a lot of things that are on the list. So, the Russians will pay a price for this.”

Abrams later told a press briefing that “it would be a mistake for Russia to think they have a free hand” in Venezuela.

He also confirmed U.S. suspicions that Moscow was “helping the regime with the S-300 ground-to-air missile system that “apparently got screwed up” amid ongoing electricity outages exacerbated by fuel shortages due to U.S. economic restrictions.

Bolton meanwhile explained only Western hemisphere nations such as the US were allowed to “deploy military assets to Venezuela”:

We strongly caution actors external to the Western hemisphere against deploying military assets to Venezuela, or elsewhere in the hemisphere, with the intent of establishing or expanding military operations,” U.S. national-security adviser John Bolton said in a statement released by the White House on March 29.

Tough luck, but Venezuela prefers friendly Russian troops, to hostile American ones.

Don’t forget the 120 Chinese troops just sent to Venezuela.

The US doesn’t scare nations that can fight back.

Well John Boy, a portion of eastern Russia extends beyond the 180 degree dividing longitude that defines the western hemisphere.

Go pound sand.
