Bolsonaro Gets the Elusive Short-Table Treatment From Putin

Even Lavrov/Shoigu get long-tabled these days, not Bolsonaro

Raisi (Iran):

“President Bolsonaro expressed gratitude for the Russian side’s hospitality, displayed during his visit to Moscow, and invited President Putin to pay a visit to Brazil. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of the visit will be agreed via diplomatic channels.” the statement reads.

It would seem that Putin believes in natural immunity, given Bolsonaro’s prior infection he poses a negligible threat of carrying a significant viral load.

That seems to be the message, but one has to wonder at the authenticity of these optics.

It’s fairly widely known that Ivermectin (for example) can be used as a completely safe and effective prophylactic measure against the alleged Corona Chan bug.

Maybe it’s just a convenient plausibly deniable mechanism for sending a message to unsavoury guests.

Or maybe they really are being super-cautious about the President’s health. He is pretty important to Russia, after all, and there’s a lot of alphabet soup agencies that would love to get close enough to “infect” him with something nasty.

On one hand, the President’s guests could have a lot of fun with this – eg, pull out a pair of binoculars and a megaphone (or maybe a cellphone) to conduct negotiations from the far end of the table.

On the other hand, it’s a powerful demonstration of Russia’s respect for Brazil. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come – Brazil’s rightful place in the world is very much more than it has so far been afforded.

In Rome be roman…Mr. Putin and Mr. Bolsonaro show what they think about the demonic pandemic. Two great men!!
