America’s No. 2 Diplomat Meets Leader of Belarusian Opposition in Lithuania to Discuss “Transfer of Power”

Tsikhanouskaya told Biegun she would be willing to accept a peaceful transfer of power from Lukashenko negotiated by international bodies

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya discussed the political crisis in Belarus with US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun, Radio Svaboda reports.

Tsikhanouskaya expressed her readiness to resolve the crisis through a dialogue on the peaceful transfer of power, including with the mediation of international organizations.

At the same time, she called on all countries to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Belarus. “Only the people of Belarus will decide their future in new fair and free elections,” she said.

Tsikhanouskaya recalled the need for “an impartial investigation of the crimes committed by the Belarusian authorities against their people”.

The meeting between Tsikhanouskaya and Biegun took place in Vilnius. After that Biegun will visit Moscow.

  2. David Bedford says

This is a repeat of their playbook in Venezuela where they will appoint a puppet to be ‘leader’ who has no real rights to power and was not duly elected by the people of Belarus.

How does one gain “real rights to power” in a dictatorship?

Stupid woman! Just what does she think will happen to her country? She is a traitor to her people. Selling them into bondage as the Ukraine is. For what some sheckels?

She got a free makeover and an apple mac, plus she’ll get a nice flat in Brussels where she will become the resident wailer in chief on behalf of the 1% of Belarusians who voted for her. A small reward for her lifetime exile from the homeland. Silly woman.

Aw, this is hilarious, it’s getting funnier by the day. The colour revolution has failed before it began, I just wonder whether they’ll bother with the CIA paid snipers killing protesters this time round? And the rabid Polish Telegram Nexta network sending out orders to protesters to get violent because peace doesn’t work, tut tut, that isn’t democracy you know. Nother big boi EU/US failure. What a bunch of shame faced nazis they are.

The Secretary of State would be “America’s No. 2 Diplomat.”
The President is America’s No. 1 Diplomat.

      Terrorists are not gangsters.

Well if you don’t pay off the gangsters what do they do? They terrorize you don’t they?

As the USA slowly destroys itself and its cities are burning it still wants to make life miserable for everyone else.

    1. Ronnie&MargaretInDementia says

Of course! Slash and burn is their credo. If they can’t have it nobody can. Learned it from the British.

  16. chris chuba says

Whimp. If he had any guts he would pull a Guaido and recognize the opposition leader as the legitimate President of Belarus because he ‘won the election’ by counting the ballots through ESP.

  17. Emmet Sweeney says

This is not the Ukraine and this time the “Empire” will not get away with it. They’ll have the full weight of the Belarussian and perhaps the Russian military to deal with.

  18. jm74 says

Biegun should not be allowed entry into Russia.

  19. Sn SM says

This is how “color revolutions”are done…this would be like China’s top diplomat met with
Hillary after she LOST the election and promised her they would put her in power… Would
you say that’s legal ? Like Guaido this lady has LOST by vote…this is a flat out coupe
    attempt in public.
