It took an entire year, but lockdowns and mask mandates are officially incredibly unpopular with half of the country, to the point that governors are rapidly making sweeping changes to their year-long COVID-19 policies.

Jumping onto the coattails of pro-individual freedom leaders like governors Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) and Kristi Noem (R-SD), the governors of Mississippi and Texas decided Tuesday to announce an end to business restrictions and statewide mask mandates.

Both Tate Reeves (R-MS) and Greg Abbott (R-TX), who had long taken a nanny state approach to the COVID-19 crisis, acted almost simultaneously to announce the end of statewide restrictions.

The centrally planned solutions to COVID-19 have failed spectacularly, and the American people have taken notice of this reality. Hundreds of millions have now been through a full year of government-imposed tyranny on both a federal and state level. Whether it was a travel ban, an endless series of lockdowns, mask mandates, countless emergency orders, business closures, and the like, not a single top-down order from the federal or state level did anything productive for the wellbeing of Americans.

None of it worked. All of it served as a net negative. The people have noticed.

Now that their constituents have had enough, politicians on the Right are fast departing from the COVID tyranny, and attempting to secure what is left of their political aspirations.

Abbott and Reeves are not the only GOP governors moving fast in ending the restrictions, several other governors have recently acted to roll them back.

On February 12, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte lifted his statewide mask mandate.

On February 8, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds lifted Iowa’s statewide mask mandate along with several other restrictions.

On February 22, North Dakota took it a step further. Its legislative body took the bold step in voting to make mask mandates illegal.

As of March 2, there are now 16 states that no longer have statewide mask orders.

However, across the political divide, there remains no end in sight to the corona madness. Much of the Left continues to embrace and root on endless COVID-19 restrictions, and the hijacking of individual rights in the name of a virus.

Governor Gavin Newsom of California took to Twitter in describing the end of restrictions as “absolutely reckless.”

It took long enough, but it’s now official: Governors who continue to impose lockdowns and mask mandates are fast becoming as popular as Red Sox fans in the Yankee Stadium bleachers, at least in half of the country. The internal polling is out, and the draconian restrictions are being abandoned in droves. History will not be kind to the remaining high-handed holdouts.

    I wouldn’t exactly call them freedom leaders. Until they cancel the unconstitutional medical tyranny (Emergency Declarations) and fix it to where it cannot occur again, they are simply benevolent dictators.

    Yeah,,, they talked the liberty and constitutional talk at CPAC but talk is cheap, especially from a politician. So far in my lifetime few if any politicians have walked the walk.

    The recovery rate,,, 99.87% <70 —- 99.4% >70,,, of this alleged disease does not warrant any emergency measures, extreme mandates or the forcing of the concoction they erroneously call a vaccine.

    Cancel the emergency acts,,, the mandates,,, make vaccines an individual choice. Then, possibly, we can consider them freedom leaders in this context.

    Viruses and bacteria are anaerobic and thrive on CO2, moisture and heat.. exactly what the masks provide… hummm who benefits? Patent holders of a cure? Who outlawed medicines that work? HCQ etc.. oh they are not patented.. so they are killing for personal profit!

      Who has ever seen a virus?
      According to what “they” say, the virus is a chain of dead cells.
      How is this supposed to “walk”, eat, make babies …?
      This is offence to the normal thinking.
      Is a bacterial contamination whose development gas nothing to do with other people: pressure, humidity, temperature, cosmic radiation, planet pulsation, and more… mankind cannot stop or change- THIS IS OUR WORLD.

    laying the entire blame on these politicians is wrong. in the early days of this ‘plandemic’ it was the likes of Fauci and Bill Gates that forced the mask, isolation, and vaccine as the only solution narrative. for lack of knowlege and foresight these politicians were unwilling participants. Now they know better, they are doing what should have been done in the first place, removing all the mandates and opening up.

    sadly, no lessons will be learned from this plandemic though there is so much to learn and prepare for in case of a REAL pandemic:
    1) viruses are among us for millennia and you don’t solve anything by hiding from them
    2) humans and animals have always engaged with new pathogens and though may suffer initial loss of lives, ultimately our immunity sees us through.
    3) the best way to face a new pathogen is to keep your immunity primed with healthy food, adequate vitamin D levels and less junk food.

      There is plenty of blame to go around. The media terrified the old people until they were witless, with its breathless reports of outbreaks in care homes harvesting the elderly like wheat. But then the old people pleaded with public health authorities for mask mandates so everyone – including healthy people – would have to wear one. Basically you are on your own, and the ‘pandemic’ was an object lesson that you owe your ‘community’ nothing if you are not one of the blatting sheep, because what you used to call your ‘community’ is the same people yelling that you should be denied medical benefits if you would not wear a stupid face mask. Look after your family and close friends. To hell with everyone else. Let them sort themselves out. All my community-mindedness vanished in 2020.

    Here in Texas it doesn’t matter that Abbott lifted the ban on these MORONIC face THONGS! The morons that own business are making EVERYONE that enters their establishment wear the face thongs!!! What ‘freedom’ is there if we are STILL force by everyone else to wear these stupid things??!!!!
    You bet I’m mad as hell… the owner of the company I work for has told us to ‘enforce’ it upon us and our customers. I wish I could YELL at him for being an IDIOT and a blind friggin’ SHEEPLE!!!!!!!
